Abstrak

Kesadaran membayar pajak memiliki peran penting dalam menjaga stabilitas ekonomi dan mendukung pembangunan negara. Namun, di Indonesia, kesadaran ini masih rendah, dan hal ini menjadi tantangan bagi pemerintah. Penelitian ini berfokus pada analisis fenomena tersebut dari perspektif teologis, dengan menggunakan teks Roma 13:1-7. Dalam penelitian ini, metode penafsiran Historis-Kritis diterapkan untuk menggali makna teks tersebut. Penelitian ini mempelajari konteks historis, politik, ekonomi, budaya, sosial, dan latar belakang Paulus dalam mendorong ketaatan kepada pemerintah sebagai panggilan etis bagi umat Kristen. Selain itu, metode kualitatif juga digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data dari sumber internet terkait rendahnya tingkat pembayaran pajak di Indonesia. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Paulus menekankan pentingnya mendukung pemerintah sebagai institusi yang ditetapkan Tuhan untuk menjaga ketertiban dan keadilan di masyarakat. Implikasi dari penafsiran ini dapat membantu meningkatkan kesadaran etis masyarakat Indonesia terkait kewajiban membayar pajak, yang tidak hanya sebagai tanggung jawab sipil, tetapi juga sebagai bentuk ketaatan iman. Dengan demikian, penelitian ini memberikan perspektif bahwa membayar pajak adalah bagian dari panggilan etis dan iman, yang dapat memotivasi warga negara untuk lebih taat dalam menjalankan kewajiban perpajakan mereka.
