Apostolos: Journal of Theology and Christian Education https://ejournal.iaknkupang.ac.id/ojs/index.php/apos
Apostolos is translated "Apostle", meaning "messenger, delegate/ambassador, someone who is sent with special commands. This term is mainly applied to the twelve disciples of Jesus Christ. The word sent is an Arabic loan word, meaning messenger. In a broad sense, All those whom the risen Jesus Christ sent have the status of apostles. They have power, not superiority over the churches, namely the power of pastoral ministry. In a narrower sense, the apostle is obliged to bear witness that Jesus Christ died and rose.

The concept of "apostle" or "apostolos" (a messenger) according to the Bible has the characteristic of "testifying about Jesus Christ". In a broad sense, all people sent by the resurrected Jesus Christ have the status of apostles. The church is supported by them. They have power -- not superiority -- over the congregations, namely the power of pastoral ministry.
en-US

Apostolos: Journal Theology and Christian Education is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International License
Sance Mariana Tameon, Anggreani Norma Paat, Amelia Wila, Wenti Regina Banu Copyright (c) 2026 Sance Mariana Tameon, Anggreani Norma Paat, Amelia Wila, Wenti Regina Banu https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0 https://ejournal.iaknkupang.ac.id/ojs/index.php/apos/article/view/820 Tue, 31 Mar 2026 00:00:00 +0800 Pendidikan Agama Kristen Berbasis Multikultural Dalam Menangani Lonjakan Kasus Hiv/Aids Pelajar Dan Mahasiswa Kota Kupang https://ejournal.iaknkupang.ac.id/ojs/index.php/apos/article/view/787
Multicultural-based Christian Religious Education is a strategic approach in responding to the surge in HIV/AIDS cases among high school students and university students in Kupang City, which is influenced by low levels of reproductive health literacy, increasing risk-taking behaviors, uncontrolled exposure to digital media, and the complexity of cross-cultural interactions within a pluralistic society. The main challenges faced are not limited to medical aspects but also include weak character formation, minimal moral awareness, and the persistence of stigma and discrimination against People Living with HIV/AIDS in educational and social environments. This condition indicates a gap between religious value education and the social realities encountered by the younger generation. Using a qualitative–conceptual method based on theological, educational, and social literature review, this study aims to analyze the role of multicultural-based Christian Religious Education in building preventive awareness, dialogical attitudes, and contextual value transformation in addressing HIV/AIDS issues. Specifically, this research examines how PAK can strengthen moral resilience, shape an inclusive Christian identity, and cultivate empathy and social responsibility among learners. The multicultural approach emphasizes respect for diversity, rejection of stigma against PLWHA, reinforcement of cross-cultural solidarity, and empowerment of young people as agents of change in HIV/AIDS prevention efforts. By promoting a holistic educational model focused on early character formation, critical reflection, social responsibility, and continuous evaluation, this study affirms that multicultural-based Christian Religious Education is relevant and sustainable in shaping morally grounded, responsible learners who are committed to shared life within a pluralistic society.

Apriliatus Laiskodat Copyright (c) 2026 Apriliatus Laiskodat https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0 https://ejournal.iaknkupang.ac.id/ojs/index.php/apos/article/view/787 Tue, 19 May 2026 00:00:00 +0800 The Exegesis of the Shema Israel in Deuteronomy 6:4 and Its Implications for the Formation of Faith Identity in the Contemporary Era https://ejournal.iaknkupang.ac.id/ojs/index.php/apos/article/view/861
This study aims to examine the theological meaning of the Shema Israel in Deuteronomy 6:4 through an exegetical approach, and to examine its implications for the formation of Christian faith identity in the contemporary era characterized by pluralism, secularism, and moral relativism. This text is understood as the center of Israel's confession of faith that affirms the oneness of God while demanding a total response in the form of love and obedience to Him. This study uses a qualitative method with a biblical hermeneutic approach through literature study, by integrating historical-contextual, grammatical-lexical, structural, and theological analysis of the text, especially on key terms such as shema' and echad. Data sources include the Bible text as primary data and various theological literature as secondary data. The results of the study indicate that the Shema Israel is not only a statement of monotheism conceptually, but also contains a demand for complete and continuous obedience; lexically and theologically, the term echad affirms the exclusive and unmatched oneness of God in the context of polemics against polytheism, while emphasizing the importance of generational transmission of faith through the family as the center of faith education. Thus, the formation of a Christian faith identity does not occur instantly, but rather through a process of internalizing the word, renewing thought patterns, and consistent life practices in relation to God, so that the Shema Israel continues to have normative relevance in building an authentic, holistic, and contextual faith identity amidst the dynamics of today's life.
Syukur Iman Waruwu, Hartati Hasugian Copyright (c) 2026 Syukur Iman Waruwu, Hartati Hasugian https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0 https://ejournal.iaknkupang.ac.id/ojs/index.php/apos/article/view/861 Mon, 25 May 2026 00:00:00 +0800
