Abstract

The purpose of this research is to find out that the basic piano learning strategy for simple song, that’s song for children with special needs at JJ Music House in Kupang City. The type of research used in this research is qualitative research using a descriptive approach. The aims of this research to describe basic piano learning strategies for simple song for children with special needs at JJ Music Course located in Kupang City. This research is qualitative  because  the  problem  procedure  is  carried  out by  describing,  describing  the  state  of  the  subject  or  object  of  research  (a  musical group)  at  the  present  time  based  on  existing  facts  and  trying  to  express  one another  in  the  aspects  investigated. Researchers conducted interviews with course teacher about basic lever piano learning strategies in simple song for children with special needs. Interviews were carried out referring to 5 learning strategy indicators, namely observation, planning, implementation, evaluation and follow-up. For children with special needs it takes 4 meetings, while for normal children it takes 1-2 meetings more quickly before they can play the song. Basic level piano learning strategies for simple song for children with special needs at JJ Music Couse Kupang, namely, teacher must be patient, avoid negative assumptions, frustration, confusion and high demands, step by step is to provide teaching to children special needs little by little, as well as tolerance and communication.
