The Hedung dance is an important part of the cultural heritage of the Lamaholot community in East Flores. Initially functioning as a war ritual dance and a form of respect for ancestors, Hedung has now developed into a cultural expression performed in ceremonial events such as welcoming guests and traditional celebrations. This transformation reflects the ability of the Lamaholot community to respond to changing times without abandoning traditional values. This study aims to examine the symbolic meaning and social function of the Hedung dance and its preservation strategies. The approach used is descriptive qualitative with literature studies as data collection techniques. The results of the study show that Hedung not only has an aesthetic function, but also contains strong values ??of courage, solidarity, and spirituality. Preservation efforts are carried out through local education, the establishment of art studios, training the younger generation, and cultural documentation. This aims to ensure that the Hedung dance remains known, understood, and passed on to future generations. The Hedung dance reflects the cultural resilience and identity of the Lamaholot community. Its preservation requires support from all elements of society so that the noble values ??in it remain alive.
